This ocean town
This ocean town is deserted tonight,
the moonlight sky gives off little light.
Summer has come and gone.
Another season; faded away.
The waves crash and the dunes sway.
The ocean wraps around my ankles,
but it makes me feel safe.
This winter may be a cold one,
although that salted body of water will ever freeze.
I wish I had a heart like that,
that way, I would never forget that misty breeze.
The tide keeps moving in closer,
like it is reminding me to leave.
I look around, and before my words can escape from me, just a wave of my hand says it all.
I turn away and I walk into the cool and misty fall.
