I don’t know what you are doing
I don’t know what you are doing;
I am not quit sure were you are.
I know that you’re across seas, but that is just too far.
We are in the middle of beginning a family, yes you and me;
You received your orders of deployment on a Monday; at exactly 2:03.
You held me in your arms for days after that.
Now I’m lying in our bed wishing that you’d come back.
The baby will be here in January; hopefully not too soon.
I pray each and every night, that soon I will be able to hold you tight; and you’d be able to see our daughter too.
Why did the president take you away?
I understand you fight for your country, but is your life the price to pay?
Couldn’t he wait to send you over, maybe when our daughter is older?
You won’t be able to see her first breath.
You won’t be able to see her take her first steps.
Your orders that were given are for exactly twelve months;
Twelve months seems like forever, especially without your touch.
