What Lies off Her Bow?
CRACK!
The boom slips across the eroding sunset
The tack changes as suddenly as life,
FLOP!
The sail fills to the brim like a giant open lung
And brings us our excitement and happiness,
HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS…
The rustle of the wind in the marsh grass,
Stroking its neighbor like a mother strokes her baby,
Soothing broken hearts.
The boy alone in his boat
Laughing and weeping,
Choking on his sorrow;
He moves like the flowing river,
Through squalls and currents.
That girl on the riverbank,
O’ how she longs for him
Wishing, wanting, fading…
The sorrow in their souls,
As he disappears onto
The Horizon
