in the dark of the night
in the dark of the night
i hear noises,
the faint drone
of rain falling
gently upon my window
dripping...
pouring...
smothering...
my window
making a blurry portrait
of the beautiful Mother
Nature.
as I lie awake
in complete stillness,
i notice the blanket
the big black blanket
of night,
of darkness,
concealing me
and i am warm
i am safe
from the creatures,
the terrible beasts
forever wandering
roaming...
searching...
looking...
for me.
protection.
the quiet is soothing
it rests my soul
my shallow, immoral soul
it eases my mind
and empties my conscience,
i can hear it,
the wonderful silence
humming like a bird
calming...
easing...
resting...
me myself and i.
