I feel you like the night sky
I feel you like the night sky,
Oppressing me, depressing me,
(I obsess, you impress,
So small, but such a mess).
I feel you like the 500 lbs on my back
your book bag weighs me down
(not unlike your frown)
"Jesus Christ you're in 5th grade!
Do they really expect you to carry all this?"
I feel you like a bucket of water
over my head every morning
I wake you, and your eyes are big
and your hair resembles that of
a genius immersed in his work,
and I forget the pain you cause me,
the stress because of you,
and I just want to hold you,
but you are too old.
I feel you like a snake
wrapped around my wrist,
entangled through my fingers.
When we were younger, we used to
cross the street.
Like the ache of a bad fight in my throat, I feel you,
I'm crying and you ask me why, but all I can say is
"Shut up and let me hug you,"
and for once, you don't protest.
