Sitting in the shadows,

Sat staring at nothing,
When the clock struck seven.

Didn’t want to be sobbing,
Wondered what had happened.

Looking at people passing,
Stuck sitting, waiting, wondering,

Startled by the doorbell’s ring,
Had he finally returned?

Eyes teared, hearts crushed.
