Dawning
Dawn inhales her
First fragrant
Conscious breath.
The statue of night
Melting
over her skin.
The sun’s mighty gaze wakes softly the earth.
Now the trees have fruited
And the blooms have opened their
Virgin petals.
Like a waking lover
She kisses the round
Shoulder.
This fitful child
Starts another day in merry
confusion.
