Here and Holding Your Photo
You were standing tall but with some slouch in your shoulders.
Your crunched, wavy hair stood still that day.
The sun was hung in the sky near gentle clouds, and
The leaves, still green, hung on the trees like Christmas ornaments.
The roses were full in bloom, like a child becoming an adult.
The white fence you held still looked brand new.
Snap! The picture was taken to hold you in that moment,
While tear drops trickle down my cheek,
Like fresh rain specks dazzle down a window.
What we had when home, was still a place you came -
Was beyond what I thought today would be.
Before, you came home late, waking me with all your giggles and tears.
Now, you don’t come to my house at all.
When I hear your voice, I hear pain and sorrow.
When I see your beauty, it still soars to my eyes, but
You just don’t ever seem completely happy.
