Our Turn
By the time the next few generations roll around,
All my friends and me will be in the ground.
We have to tell them how to live on the streets,
Or what was popular in today’s beats.
We have to show them how to dress,
Or how our family structure was such a mess.
We have to teach them how to play Candyland,
Or about the craze of all the “boy bands.”
So many things they need to learn,
But we must hurry, because it’s no longer our turn.
