sing to me that bittersweet lullaby
sing to me that bittersweet lullaby
I know all too very well
sing to me of open skies
as I lay down and close my eyes
sing to me of better times
and long since forgotten childish rhymes
sing to me of broken hearts
and old abandoned shopping carts
sing to me of laughter and smiles
and kisses tucked away in files
sing to me of my destructive fears
and tell me they're smoke and mirrors
sing to me of summer rain
tapping on the window pane
sing to me of stupid lies
and unsuccessful temporary highs
sing to me of that unsent letter
for someone I thought I knew better
sing to me until you see
peacefulness comes over me
from now until morning here I'll lie
just me and a bittersweet lullaby
