History Mystery
“Americans are ignorant
They do not know their history
I don’t know why, I can’t explain,
To me it is a mystery”
The teacher ranted night and day
His cynicism raging
His arguments were grandiose
Compelling, and engaging
He fumed at the world
Spouted about crime
Telling the class how he could fix
The problems of our time
And everyday they left his class
Discussing his lecture
On all the things he hated so,
Laughing at his conjecture
For all the while he fumed aloud
They had solved the mystery
For he never taught a single thing
That even resembled history
