Autumn reminds me of Mam—
‘Way she’d needle snowy sweaters
For me—
‘Way she’d finger the red icing on the cake
Real right,
Just for me.
Seems same as Autumn,
Which brings the whitest clouds, like wool, in the sky
And the sweetest maple leaves;
Makes me think there’s a Mam out there—
A Mam more than my mam.
