My Dress Is Pink
As her mother watched from the front door,
The little girl went to meet her new neighbor.
The girl and her new friend were both about three;
They both stared at each other curiously.
She finally found the courage to speak,
But the other girl didn’t make a peep.
“I’m black and you’re white, but my dad said it was okay
If I came over here to play.”
The poor toddler didn’t know what to think,
She simply answered, “My dress is pink.”
