America Listing Poem
America
America is apple pie,
it’s afternoon baseball games,
and playing ‘till you can’t see your hand in front of your face.
America is Monday Night Football
and working on the farm.
America is a mixing pot, with people from all around.
America is coffee on Sunday morning
and working your a** off the rest of the week.
But America is also Watergate,
Vietnam and illegal wire taps.
America is obesity,
addiction to fast food
and terrible health care plans.
America is failing social security,
The Patriot Act, and No Child Left Behind.
America is lobbyists, corrupt politicians,
and big contracts for huge corporations.
America is Guantonomo Bay Prison,
wars under false pretenses,
and high oil prices.
America is The Catch,
and the crash that killed #3.
America is Hank hitting 714,
and despising Bonds when he hit 756.
It’s about helping each other after Katrina,
when Bush decided to stay on vacation.
America’s about big donations to charities,
even if it is often for personal gain.
America is the land of big business:
where the rich get richer and the poor stay poor.
But the best ting about America is what makes me able to criticize:
our freedoms that all citizens receive.
