A Time Before the House Wakes Up
A still calm a quiet time,
A hush before the morning rush,
And long before I wrote this rhyme,
The time before the house wakes up.
Then, a stir, a sound, a cry,
And some thing soft touches my face,
And then I wake against my will,
As light streams from my window sill.
The stillness Broken, quite lost,
I lose my dreams of secret things,
This time is gone for ever till,
The house goes back to bed again.
