my heart
Hurt and I feel like crying
In pain and tired of trying
You promised not to hurt me
Said by my side you’d always be
But words can easily disappear
So why do I still want you here?
I’m alone and feel neglected
My fear has been resurrected
In my heart I know it’s not true
But in my head I’m afraid of you
Afraid to be something of the past
Yet another memory that won’t last
From my eye spills yet another tear
So why do I still want you here?
To protect myself I push you away
But deep in my heart I always pay
The pain of trying to push you aside
Is not a discomfort that I can easily hide
To my soul you will always be the defender
That is why this is killing me to surrender
You can’t make me to see that you do care
So why do I still want you here?
The truth is I don’t ever want you to go
But I know you need the room to grow
It scares me to watch you walk away
It wouldn’t be fair of me to ask you to stay
You need more than what I can give
I hope someday I can be the one you forgive
My heart travels with you so please hold it near
And know that I will always want you here
