i step into the light,
but you're all i can see,
with the morning alive in my eyes.
tears in the heat,
blinking into the sun,
replaying the words in my head,
all the things you never said.
so i'll slide off these shoes,
and stand here awhile,
staring out and over the shore,
just waiting for you
and for me.
