Walking onward towards the tunnel
Approaching ever closer
The all-consuming emptiness
Soon engulfs the world around him
As he enters the long tunnel
No escape can be sighted
The longer he walks to the end
The closer the exit seems
Emerging from the tunnel’s end
Breathing, but barely alive
The arduous journey of pain
Has finally come to rest
He walks onward until the end
Where he can, at last, lie down
He meets another just like him
It seems the other man is me
