Breathing Underwater
November 15, 2007
I break surface, and here I feel
stifled and hot, engulfed by
thick summer air.
Again I dive,
eyes closed and open seeing
nothing and everything at once.
A rush of coolness
under the depths of the sea.
I can think clearly,
my brain is absolved,
yet a million sensations flow through my mind.
Diving, gliding, floating,
peace and solitude beneath an angry world.
Sooths pain, ends confusion,
it is here I linger,
for underwater,
I can breathe.
