Twas The Night Before Finals
‘Twas the week before finals and all through the school
Not a student was smiling, not even Raul.
There was studying with partners and doing reviews,
While still trying to go to sleep by the curfew.
The teachers were tired and felt pretty stressed
While trying to prepare all of the students’ tests.
Away to the computers and copy machines
You could already hear the shrieks of the teens.
No one felt ready, no one even cared
In fact most of the students weren’t even prepared.
Away from the classes students wished to stay
Away from the agony of these painful days.
But even with this stretch of a hope
The students knew finals were no joke.
Reluctance to read, reluctance to study
All they wanted to do was talk to their buddy.
The clock was ticking and time was running out
All everyone wanted to do was scream and shout.
No matter how happy they tried to be
There was no escaping this harsh reality.
The tests were coming no matter what
And days would seem longer even though they were cut.
The thoughts and ideas in their brains made a maze
No one was ready for these next three days.
