Writer's Block
My writing is blocked.
My thoughts hit a rock.
It consumes me and uses me,
destroying my thoughtful being.
The thoughts don't flow.
They are stopped like Death Row.
My thoughts swim away
like children at play.
I can't seem to capture the beauty of the ocean.
So my road blocked mind keeps on hopin'
that soon I'll be able to do just that.
Instead, my thoughts are a soda that's flat.
I stare at the blank pages before me
trying to imagine what they'll soon be.
But my mind continues to fail.
Always a 'gater on my tail
trying to chase my thoughts away.
But I know I can seize the day
when my thoughts form words
describing clown fish to flying birds.
That is when I know as a writer,
that my world is brighter
and I no longer have a block standing in my way.
