I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars.~MLK jr.

When there is nowhere else to go
With high hopes of going home
It’s the only place I’ve ever known
I walk the streets of worthlessness
I have seen this place from end to end
I have walked the railroad up and down
I have swam the river and slept in the streets
I love my town of pride and sin
Where there is no such thing as distance
No restaurants, no stop lights, no privacy
All we know is family and friends,
Fishing and field parties every now and then
But we know that better than anyone.
This town is built from summer loves, determination, and our inability to let a dream die
We are just a bunch of small town kids
living in the most meaningful of meaningless places
Yet I am alone, we are all alone
Because this is the only place we have ever know
I walk these empty roads
Of broken bricks and crumbled stones
This world can change me, but not my mind
I have come to love these old ruins
