An Almost Memory
A remembrance stirs, the almost lifeless feeling
Awakens and blossoms
Culminating in a zealous fascination.
What ebullient agony!
The seconds lost from memory
Are almost tangible
If only they ticked once more
If only they could be trammeled
And let loose on command.
Precious time slipped by
Like an enigmatic man too shy to stay
I can only recapture the echolalia
Of my urgent “Please, wait!”
But he departed, like someone with an agenda
And I was left longing
For an almost memory.
