Spirits
Hear me in this altitude of little air,
When oxygen is spare and I’m growing faint;
Hear me in these depths of an ocean trench
Where the water pressure is a crushing force;
Hear me in this night of masquerading spirits,
When I try so hard to sleep
But all I hear is “you’ve forgotten me!”
“No,” I say, “I’ve not forgotten you, never!”
But already these spirits have left me without hope.
