The Meeting.
Slowly approaching,
the kink in my plan.
Vast and deep,
a gorge,
not far ahead.
Nearing the peak
of the mountain,
he stops.
But a SECOND passes,
and he hears it.
THE MOST
profound silence.
And suddenly,
he abhors himself,
wishing he had never ventured up,
for fear he may not be able to bring himself back down.
The sky,
black as can be,
exception being
the stars,
so bright.
On a night like this,
they've been meant
to resemble
holes in the floor of heaven.
Screaming your name,
you hear God now.
He's told you you might have.
He's calling you to stay.
Atop the mountain,
a lonely tear
dribbles from your eye,
and immediately
it begins to pour.
God,
so serious,
begins to weep.
A flood of light emerges,
breaks out,
door in the floor,
an opening.
God will let you in.
