Sins of the Flesh
I cover up my face for them in ugly
shades of gray, and put upon a
plastic smile which will never fade away.
They carve insanity into each pitiful remark,
All courage and all difference race into
Jagged dark. If this is wisdom’s way, then
Please let it be so that foolishness can find
Me when my soul should choose to go. I’ll
Slip into their mortal lies, I’ll basque in my
Mistakes until the immortal part of me
Refuses to be slaked. I’ll fill their bodies
Up with the remorse they never shed while
All the parts of who I am will always cower
In my head. And then, one day, when all is
Lost and there is no more grace, I’ll remove
My mask full of decay and crumble like my face.
