Darkest Kind of Twilight

My life was like a moonless night,
The darkest kind of twilight.
But there were stars to aid my sight,
Points of reason that gave off light.

Then like a meteor you shot across my sky,
Suddenly, trails of fire passed me by.
There was brilliancy and beauty,
And the absence of loneliness’ cruelty.

I tried to decide between right and wrong,
For you alone I tried to be strong.
I left you alone, lost in the woods,
But first I made you promise to be good.

When you were gone and I had left,
My heart laid forlorn and bereft.
Your meteor had blinded my sight.
And left me alone with blasphemous night.

Then everything went dark and black,
I couldn’t see stars until you came back.
There was no reason for anything,
And pain is what thoughts of you would bring.

Then once again you came into my life,
Ending my pain, suffering, and strife.
Now, night is no longer dark and cold,
My heart is forever yours to hold.
