The Hermit
Down off the beaten path
Over yonder mountain
And further still
There lived a hermit
Who lived there by will
With a snow white beard
And eyes coal black
The quality of loving mankind
He seemed to lack
His home was his refuge
For he was the last of his kind
And his house he had built from the ground up
With a rusty old chime blowing in the wind
They say he died there
And most likely went to hell
But I believe that he lives on
In the spirit of the dell
Down off the beaten path
Over yonder mountain
And further still
There once lived a hermit
Who now haunts there by will
And if you listen closely
You might just hear him roar
The latter of which
Echoes across the moor
