The Grooves I've Carved
The grooves I’ve carved in your forehead
Chipped deeper with every hurtful word I hurl
The spidery lines along the corners of your eyes
Creeping along further each time I push you away
In one hand, I hold a chisel
In the other, an etch-a-sketch
Now as I step back to finally see
The work that I’ve created
I long to smooth out those unseemly scars
And shake, shake away your sorrows
