The Black Train
My heart starts pounding
as I wait at the black
metal gate. Finally,
it opens. I walk carefully
up to my seat and fasten
myself in so tightly that
I can hardly breathe.
The train starts up the
mountain, chugging along.
Suddenly it zooms
down the mountain.
Winding and racing
around every curve.
I don’t take my first full
breath till we stop in the
coal mine. I inch out of my
seat, exit the mine, and
look back to see the
black track of Batman.
