In the Absence of Fear
Though all the world
Keeps spinning on,
I am standing still.
The sun is warm,
But I feel only coldness.
Around me people smile,
Yet I see only deceit.
Why am I the one,
Picked amongst the millions,
Cursed to walk this earth as
A ghost?
Denied from the simple pleasures?
Haunted by the fear of pain,
Fear of sadness,
Fear of death?
Fear not for me,
But for those around me?
My only hope is for the climax to come,
For my fears to fade into reality in
The blinding flash of a moment.
But then, the absence of fear
Shall only be replaced by that which is
Loss.
An endless, never healing wound.
