Her black hair falls over her eyes.
She pushes it back with black fingernails.
She stares out the window, wondering

The curtain falls for a final time.
He bows to the cheering crowd.
The next days the boys are jeering –

The mall is so bright and cheerful.
She smiles but on the inside she wonders
