You Weren't There
When I was born,
You weren’t there
When our house was torn,
You weren’t there
When I spoke my first my words,
You weren’t there
When I got my first pet - a bird
You weren’t there
When I took my 1st step and fell,
You weren’t there
When I cried because I stepped on a nail,
You weren’t there
When I went to the coast,
You weren’t there
But when I needed you the most,
You weren’t there
When you promise you’d see me,
You lied,
Everyone’s father was there,
Except mine,
You left us poor,
Couldn’t even say good-bye
You’re the reason I’m like this
You left my mom to cry
I’ve learned not to hang on to past memories
Just go on with life
They keep you stuck in one place
As if you are being held with a knife
Now I’m almost done
Only 4 more years of school
Only thing I got to say to you is,
I made it without you
