A Different Set of Eyes
Being unique should not be a crime.
But to the world I am the worst of criminals.
When my peers say green, yet I murmer blue,
The mocking and scorn cut through my soul.
Maybe I prefer to write while you dance around the halls,
But you do not care as you laugh and spit at my work.
I struggle while trying to hold back my sorrowful, unbidden tears,
For I have no true friend to keep me happy and hopeful.
So while your gossip about me behind my back,
Do this one, small favor before you join them.
Look at things through my point of view,
And try seeing the world through a different set of eyes.
