Sleeping in Heaven
i asked my mother where my father went,
"he`s sleeping" was the answer.
race to the bedroom,
where i couldn`t find him.
"no darling he`s sleeping faraway"
"faraway where?"
"too far for you to reach"
tears began to grace her face,
i was too young to understand.
but now i understand.
lying here waiting.
my mother cries at my side.
"don`t cry" i tell her
she doesn`t speak
"i`m only going to sleep"
a fresh flow of tears
"i`m going to sleep in heaven
like dad far away"
she nodded and smiled.
i closed my eyes
and went to sleep.
