Absent of Context
I hear the birds sing, outside
Here in this room, laying on my side,
While somewhere dawn is breaking,
And I still can’t stop the aching.
What do I have to do, to still be with you?
The sky’s dark and lightning cuts through,
Raindrops, like tears, spill,
Your flowers are closed on the windowsill.
Like the weather, you and I are ever changing,
But we always manage, but this keeps hanging,
Flapping in the wind,
I can never put our love behind.
The sun’s rays reach out, but never touch me,
It’s sunny outside, though the dark inside remains the same,
Locked up in my room,
You left me alone to face this gloom.
I hear the birds sing, outside
Here in this room, laying on my side,
While somewhere dawn is breaking,
And I still can’t stop the aching.
What do I have to do, to still be with you?
The sky’s dark and lightning cuts through,
Raindrops, like tears, spill,
Your flowers are closed on the windowsill.
I take up my pen, let the emotions appear,
Like overcast clouds, full of fury, I am close to tears,
I hope you will listen,
Maybe even understand times ten.
It is for the best that I untie the knot that holds,
I still love, but I have a heart of gold,
I am the sun and you are the moon, no other,
And we eclipse one another.
