The Story

She sits down to find
a book right beside her
waiting to be opened.
She obeys completely by picking it up.
One page she turns,
and then another,
hours passing
little by little.
Mysteries uncover,
secrets unravel.
She knows she needs to get some sleep
and she knows she's got work to do,
but she also needs to know
what's next.
Page by page,
the clock ticks,
time flies,
and she finds herself wishing she had
another ten thousand years
to finish the adventure
in the story,
in her fragile, dreaming mind.
