River Morning
I remember once, on an sunrise at the river.
Dewy grass between our tender toes,
Ducks chattering amiably as they gobble up popcorn,
A venerable turtle surveying his empire from his throne of logs,
Carp tickling the toes of ducks as they surface for an afternoon treat.
How long has it been since I’ve felt such joy?
I return the picture to the wooden chest labeled Childhood Memories.
