Beware of Hills and Holes
Falling in a hole isn’t fun
combined by running down a hill
a displaced fracture they told me
and now I will be scarred forever
Breaking an ankle and three
bones in my foot
A green cast with blue stripes is what I got.
People signing and mother crying is how I spent a month.
Running one day hobbling the next,
softball practice and games were missed
crutches and medicine, painkillers, and then
the day came for it to come off
Wearing a brace able to play
finally the nightmare is over
Never wanting to go back
Beware of hills and holes
