Off the Boston Harbor Stood One Lone Boat
I happened to be traveling on that boat one blistery October day.
The waves rocked hard-
As my mother sighed and swayed.
Just when I was ready to abandon-
All my hopes and dreams- I saw it.
I caught a glimpse of the most-
Majestic- marvelous- splendid creatures I have ever seen.
His tail stretched up toward the sky-
As if he was waving to me.
I had witnessed exactly what I wanted to see, but-
How I longed to jump in the water and swim alongside him.
God wasn’t finished that day-
He had one more proclamation of His creation.
I spun around at just the right moment to see-
The whale plunge up towards the sun.
With all the gracefulness in the world he crashed back into the water.
That was when I knew I had truly seen- everything.
