Bhikkhu and the Phoenix
These charred eyelids
shut closed
My vision,
disappearing
a great loss in hearing
it tastes like ash
It feels unimaginable
my senses can burn
my skin is searing
my tendons are tearing, crackling and snapping
complexion is blackening
It feels unimaginable
my flesh can burn
Too hard to breath,
Too hard to think,
Too much to move,
Too much to bear,
I can’t hold on
It feels unimaginable
my life can burn
I can still pray,
my will is still there,
my dreams will live on,
my soul is on fire
It feels unimaginable
because my faith can't burn
