A Grandfather's Touch
His raspy voice makes my day seem better,
His nonsense jokes makes me roll on the floor
His odd smile makes my cheeks grow redder
His wrinkled hands makes me love and adore.
He was a harsh man in his early years,
Always fighting with whomever he could,
But he has never showed me any fears,
And never hurt me, like no grandpa should.
A few years ago, he was diagnosed,
With an illness which can not be controlled.
Alzheimer’s is now his unwelcome host,
And he does not have long, I have been told.
But until the day that he is set free,
He will be the best grandfather to me.
