The Human Genome Project
I am a human being, a mystery, an individual.
One of a million, but 99.9 percent identical.
Me and my molecular self, you and your molecular selves,
The goal is to understand the language of our cells.
To think we’re all related, to a tiny little worm –
There are three billion letters; all of the same term.
One by one they’re stacked, like little wooden blocks,
And every minute we are turning our biological clocks.
This is an adventure – big moments in history,
I want to tell everyone; let them know my story.
This is more than you think,
Not black and white, like pen and ink.
Some have glitches, but never mind – we’ll find the misspelling,
And then you’ll be fine. The truth is we’re all flawed, DNA will do the telling.
But remember, we might end human suffering – vulnerability,
Don’t be afraid, each has the power to lend a strand, the ability.
This project is completely accessible, now that it’s discovered,
And we will be able to predict, we’ve been and are uncovered.
To consider, this is an experiment to outstand daily life. This is an art.
This is my art, your art, our art – that our molecular selves conduct in the laboratory of the heart.
