How long?
A tear drips down my cheek,
And I can taste the salt sitting on my lips.
My heart hurts, but it doesn’t sting.
Instead, the throbbing is dull and lifeless.
Really, that’s worse.
Sharp pain doesn’t last,
It can’t, because a person can’t survive,
At least not very long, if she hurts that bad.
But the dull pain, I don’t know how long it can last.
I’m scared. What if it lasts forever?
There are so many memories and feelings,
All entwined in my past.
Tell me, how long can the dull pain last?
