They told us to write and I can barely spell my name. A whole poem? Hope it’s the same!
Oh, I hate to write! And I wonder why. I suck at it, but for you, I guess I’ll give it a try:

I’m not much of a writer, but I’ll try and write this:
I’m not much of a stranger, but I’ll call you Mister and Miss.
I’m not much of a talker, but if you asked, I’d reply.
I’m not much of a grown-up, but I hardly do cry.

I’m not much of a clown, but I do like to joke.
I’m not much of a rich kid, but I’m not all that broke.
I’m not much of an artist, but I helped paint these walls.
I’m not much of a runner, but I’d fly, if you call.

I’m not much of a sports kid, but I’d throw a baseball.
I’m not much of a catcher, but I don’t drop them all.
I’m not much of a swimmer, but I’ve survived in the deep.
I’m not much of a listener, but I’d love to hear you sing me to sleep.

I’m not much of a genius, but I’m not always wrong.
I’m not much of a singer, but I’d sing you 10 songs.
I’m not much of a dancer, but if you want to I’ll dance.
I’m not much of a charmer, but I’ll make you smile if you give me a chance.

I’m not much of a counter, but I’ve been counting the days
‘Cause I’m not much of a dreamer, but 100 times I’ve dreamed of today.
I’m not much of a son, but I can live just to pretend.
I’m not much of a brother, but I can at least be a friend.


I’m not one to know manners, but I’ll watch and I’ll learn.
I’m not one to say prayers, but for God I’ll show some concern.
I’m not one to be cared for, so I’ll thank you each night.
I’m not one to be loved, so I’ll hold on to you tight


Now, I’m not much of a child, but I’ll call you mum and dad.
I’m not much of a perfect kid, but I’ll sure make you glad.
I’m not much of a saint, as you can see…
But I pray and I hope for you to please adopt me.
