A Day in December

Do you remember? I do.
A day in December,
We were on the patio,
Our eyes gazed at each other.
The cold air gently touched our bodies,
Like the flutter of a butterfly over a flower.
Our bodies were trembling because of the nervousness.
We were whispering,
Speaking softly.
I can’t remember those exact words.
They flew away on the cold air,
Like a downtown Chicago wind.
As the sun set
So did my nervousness.
I knew the day was about to end.
My heart rate was over speeding,
My blood was over flowing my
Whole body.
I wanted to stay on that patio,
Even with that freezing cold.
I had you,
And that was the only thing that mattered.
