Outside the Hot Air Sifts Past
outside the hot air sifts past
but inside it's only recycled breath
hot moist stifling
opposite the windows
the sun is glaring
shining blazing scorching
in the back of a red pickup
two boys lounge
shirtless in jeans
haughty and bored
one with crimson hair
one with bleached white
my eyes are envious
i could climb
wiggle away
through the black frame
and come to rest between them
breathing moving air
something less stagnant
but no
i sit
arms at my sides
hands on my thighs
shoulder to shoulder
cramped sweaty and tired
and so they drive on
and so we drive on
