I See You in my Dreams
I see you in my dreams
Like a great black cloud
Slowly descending upon this city
Closing in like fun-house mirrors
Covering the air-holes of my box
The box you put me in long ago
With food, water; enough to survive
But never enough to live
So suffocate me with your black hand
Cover my escape, my breath, my mind
Do it quickly now, because the food has run out
And the air is growing stale
I welcome you with open arms
But you won't do it, you never do
Because every time you come close
You draw back with the realization that
Without me, you are nothing.
