Prisoner in the Beast
I am a prisoner-
Shackled to what is left of my sanity,
And tortured by my thoughts
I share a cell with a stranger,
Someone who fills me with ideas.
He is the one who makes me feel this way.
He often feeds on my brain
Making it burn with confusion.
Thriving on blackness that fills my soul.
At night is when he emerges,
From the depths of the cell
Ready to attack and corrupt my head.
He crawls up inside me-
Sifting through joy, and exterminating happiness.
And he only leaves when satisfied it is all gone.
I can not escape-
Because that is difficult to do.
When the thing you want to escape, lives inside of you.
