When it is Time
Trying hard to think,
I closed my eyes tightly.
But that heavenly light
Was shining so brightly.
I am not ready.
I don’t want to believe.
I don’t want to go.
I still have much to see.
I can’t be let in.
Too much bad has happened.
Too much wrong I have done.
I don’t deserve this end.
Out of that bright light,
Came a man clothed in white.
He wrapped me in his arms
And all my faults took flight.
He whispered to me
Things called faith, hope, and love.
He wiped away my tears,
Spreading wings, like a dove’s.
He took a step back
And offered me his hand.
I took it and he led
Me where my family stands.
